Who is responsible for personal information?

Curve Radio is an independent, non-commercial online radio project operated by an individual in Newcastle upon Tyne. The operator of Curve Radio decides how personal information connected with the project is used.

Information processed when you use the website

Curve Radio does not use a website contact form, user accounts, newsletter system, advertising tracker or visitor analytics service.

The servers used to provide the website and live stream may automatically process limited technical information, including your IP address, request time, requested page or stream, basic browser information, security events and technical errors. This is used to deliver and secure the service and diagnose faults.

Listening to the live stream

The live stream is supplied using AzuraCast on a privately managed server. When your browser connects to the stream, the streaming server may process technical connection records needed to provide and protect the service.

Browser storage and external website resources

The website uses browser local storage only to remember the volume level chosen on the radio player. The key used is curve_radio_volume. It is not used for advertising, analytics or profiling. You can remove it by clearing this website's stored data in your browser.

The original website design loads the Roboto font, Font Awesome icons, jQuery and jQuery UI from third-party content delivery networks. Requests to those providers may include technical information such as your IP address and browser details. They operate under their own privacy information.

The Curve Radio code does not deliberately set advertising or analytics cookies, so it does not currently show a cookie-consent banner. If tracking, advertising or other non-essential storage is added later, this notice and the website's consent controls must be updated first.

Email and Discord

If you email Curve Radio, your email address and message will be used to answer you and deal with the matter raised. Do not send passwords, financial information, medical records or other unnecessary sensitive details.

Presenter and volunteer applications, scheduling and technical support take place through Discord. Discord is a separate service with its own terms and privacy practices.

Programme recordings

Live programmes are recorded through AzuraCast and may be replayed later as part of the scheduled stream. Presenters and guests should be told when recording takes place. Recordings may include voices, names and information voluntarily shared during a broadcast.

Why information is used

Where UK data protection law applies, Curve Radio generally relies on legitimate interests to operate and secure the station, respond to enquiries and keep appropriate records. Consent will be used where it is the appropriate basis, such as agreeing to participate in a recorded programme.

Retention and sharing

Technical logs and correspondence are kept only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose. Complaints, safeguarding records and programme recordings may need to be kept longer depending on their nature.

Information may be processed by the UK web host, the privately managed AzuraCast server, Microsoft Outlook and Discord where a person chooses to use those services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect someone from serious harm.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability. Contact curveradio@outlook.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
